Grant

Grant, the seat of Perkins County, was platted in 1886 when the Chicago, Burlington & Quincy Railroad was extended to the site, and named for Ulysses S. Grant. The Grant Commercial Historic District is listed on the National Register of Historic Places, alongside the Perkins County Courthouse, a Classical Revival "County Citadel style" building completed in 1926-27 by architect J.F. Reynolds, featuring rusticated brick, Ionic columns, and a carved-eagle parapet. The Perkins County Museum, housed in a restored 1905 home, also preserves a relocated one-room schoolhouse originally located west of Brandon.
