Weston was platted in 1877 when the Omaha & Republican Valley Railroad extended to that point; the origin of its name was not confirmed by any source found.

Weston, population 250 in 2020 (down from 324 in 2010), is the hometown of MLB player Bob Cerv and NFL player Zach Miller.
