Dix Nebraska 69133

DIX WEATHER

Dix was established in 1886 as a siding and station on the Union Pacific Railroad. It takes its name from Dixon, Illinois, the hometown of an early settler, shortened to "Dix" to avoid confusion with the unrelated town of Dixon in Dixon County, Nebraska.

Dix is an incorporated village with a 2020 Census population of 187, down from 255 in 2010 and a peak of 420 in 1960. Its ZIP code is 69133. In 1995 the town's Main Street was renamed Miller Street to honor Fred H. Miller, a longtime Union Pacific depot agent and town board member. Dix's post office closed for structural reasons and, unusually for a small rural office, reopened in 2019 after roughly three and a half years.
