History
A Mr. Bartholomew was the first settler, in 1856. In 1857 the Presbyterian Board of Home Missions opened a school for Otoe children here under the Rev. David Murdock. A United Presbyterian congregation was organized in early 1873 and had 101 members by 1882, when the settlement also had a post office, and in 1890 Mission Creek was described as a thriving place of about 40 people, 20 miles from Pawnee City. The church's records run until 1962.
