Dwight is a village in Richardson Township, Butler County, Nebraska. With a population of approximately 229 (2020), Dwight is a small farming community in southern Butler County.
History
Dwight was started in 1887 when the Fremont, Elkhorn and Missouri Valley Railroad was extended to that point. Many of the town's early settlers came from Dwight, Illinois, which inspired the choice of name. The village has produced several notable figures, including Ernest R. Kouma, a Medal of Honor recipient for actions during the Korean War; Ad Liska, a Major League Baseball pitcher; and Alfred Ernest Novak, a Roman Catholic bishop.
