About Weyerts
Weyerts was a rural post office and store in the northern part of Lodge Pole precinct in Cheyenne County, about 12 miles north and 4 miles west of Lodgepole. The map marks Weyerts Cemetery.
History
The 1890 state gazetteer lists Weyerts as a post office whose postmaster, C. M. Weyerts, also kept the store; the 1925 Nebraska Place-Names says it was probably named for an early settler. It appears on the 1912 county map. Nothing remains of the post office, but Weyerts Cemetery, with about 400 burials, and Immanuel Lutheran Church (Weyerts) still serve the area.
