Sunol Nebraska

Sunol is a small unincorporated community in the Lodgepole Creek valley, about 11 miles east of Sidney along US-30/US-385, platted in 1909 with a post office that operated from 1910 to 1973.

In its early-20th-century heyday as a stop on the Lincoln Highway, Sunol was a genuine small commercial center with banking, retail, and garage services — in 1920 alone it shipped 106 railcars of wheat worth roughly $250,000. The origin of the town's name has not been definitively documented.
