About Glencoe
Glencoe is a former post office and store in Webster Township, in the northwest corner of Dodge County, about 5 miles south of Dodge. The Glencoe Cemetery remains.
History
The Glencoe post office opened in 1871 in section 34 of Webster Township and was named for James Glenn, its longtime postmaster and storekeeper. A second office, Ogan, ran in the same township from 1887 to 1891. Glencoe closed in 1896, after the Albion branch railroad had founded Dodge and Snyder nearby.
Glencoe Cemetery has burials from 1869 into the 1990s, gravestones of Grand Army of the Republic veterans and a Civil War monument erected in 1896. Despite the name, the Webster post office was not in Webster Township; it stood farther south, near NE 79.
