Virginia is one of the smallest villages in Gage County. It was platted in 1887, when the railroad was extended to the site, and it was named for Virginia Lewis, the daughter of a pioneer settler.
The village covers about a tenth of a square mile, and the census has counted fewer than a hundred residents at each of the last three counts. A grain elevator stands at the center of it, surrounded by the farm ground that supports it. Gage County is governed from Beatrice.
