WINNEBAGO WEATHER

Winnebago is an incorporated village in Thurston County and the seat of the Winnebago Tribe of Nebraska, a Ho-Chunk (Hoocak) nation relocated here from Wisconsin and Minnesota under an 1868 treaty, within the Winnebago Reservation established primarily in the county. A post office has served the community since 1867.

Home to roughly 900-1,000 residents overwhelmingly of Native American heritage, Winnebago serves as the governmental, educational (Little Priest Tribal College), and cultural center of the Winnebago Tribe of Nebraska, including one of the nation's longest-running annual powwows.
