Hubbell, platted in 1880 and named for town-site owner Hubbell H. Johnson, is one of Thayer County's smallest villages, tucked near the Kansas border in the county's south.

With a 2020 population of 63, Hubbell is a tight-knit rural community best known outside the county as the hometown of country musician Lucas Hoge.
