About Milford
Milford is a city in Seward County, Nebraska, and part of the Lincoln metropolitan statistical area. The population was 2,155 at the 2020 census, up from 2,090 in 2010 and 2,070 in 2000. The city covers about 0.82 square miles at an elevation of roughly 1,467 feet.
History
Milford was platted in 1866. It took its name from a mill at a ford on the Blue River. The city adopted an official flag on 5 March 2019; the design was an Eagle Scout service project.
Southeast Community College
Milford is home to a campus of Southeast Community College. It opened on 1 May 1941 as the Nebraska State Trade School. The campus offers degree and certificate options in nearly 40 career and technical programmes, along with an academic transfer pathway for students continuing to four-year schools. Facilities include the Crete Carrier Diesel Technology and Welding Center, a building of 60,000 square feet, and the Prairie Hall and Meadow Hall residences, which house more than 300 students. The campus is at 600 State Street.
