History
A post office opened at Danbury in 1888, and the village was incorporated in 1898. The name was carried west from Danbury, Connecticut, the former home town of the first postmaster.
Danbury Depot Museum
The old railroad depot, built in 1888, was moved and restored as a museum in 1982. It stands at 306 Grandville Avenue. The exhibits cover local history and give particular attention to Bess Furman Armstrong, a Danbury native. The museum also holds a large collection of yearbooks, scrapbooks and sports team photographs from schools that no longer exist at Danbury, Beaver Valley, Twin Valley and Southwest, along with artefacts and art drawn from Red Willow County subjects. Regular hours are limited to Memorial Day, the Fourth of July and Labor Day, though private visits and tours can be arranged at other times.
