About Bostwick
Bostwick is an unincorporated community in Nuckolls County, in southern Nebraska. Superior lies about six miles to the east and Guide Rock about seven miles to the west. The elevation is around 1,640 feet. The surrounding precinct carries the same name.
History
A post office was established at Bostwick in 1885 and remained in operation until it was discontinued in 1969. Where the name came from has never been settled. One account says it was for a settler; another says it was probably for an official of the Chicago, Burlington and Quincy railroad. Nebraska Place Names, published in 1925, put it plainly: no one seems to know why Bostwick is so named.
Getting there
Bostwick has no village government of its own and is counted as an unincorporated place. The nearest towns of any size are Superior, which had 1,805 residents at the 2020 census, and Nelson, about twelve miles to the north-east, which had 442.
