Nebraska historical marker No. 277, "Talmage, Nebraska (1882–1982)," stands on the west side of the city park on Market Street, south of 3rd Street, in Talmage. The Talmage Centennial Committee and the Nebraska State Historical Society placed it in 1982. It tells how farmer Clark Puffer gave the town site and how the town was named for Missouri Pacific superintendent Archibald Talmage.
