Harte's Pub is a bar on Main Street in Inman, across the street from the post office and a short walk from the Cowboy Trail. Inman is a village of 95 people (2020 census) on US 20 and US 275, about 8 miles southeast of O'Neill and 13 miles northwest of Ewing, so the pub is a stop for travelers on the highway and riders on the trail. Inman City Park is one block south, across 2nd Street.
The pub carries one of Inman's oldest family names. William and Elizabeth Harte, who came from Ireland, settled on the north bank of the Elkhorn River in March 1878, before there was a town of Inman. Stage drivers and freighters left the area's mail at their place, and by 1880 William Harte was postmaster of Harte, Nebraska. When the railroad town of Inman was platted, the Harte post office closed in September 1881 and its mail moved to Inman. The Hartes' sons Harry, Bill and Jim stayed on in the Inman community.
