This History Nebraska marker on NE 89 about a mile east of Beaver City tells of Dr. Frank A. Brewster, who in 1919 bought a Curtiss JN-4D "Jenny" for $8,000 and hired pilot Wade Stevens. On May 23, 1919, they flew to Herndon, Kansas, where Brewster operated on an oilfield worker with a crushed skull, one of the earliest uses of an airplane for medical work. Brewster kept a private airstrip near the marker site, learned to fly himself at 71, and died in 1961.
