The History Nebraska marker at Evelyn Sharp Field, northwest of Ord, honors Evelyn Sharp (1919–1944), who grew up in Ord, soloed at 16 in 1936, flew airmail, and became a squadron commander of the women ferry pilots in World War II. She was killed in April 1944 when the P-38 she was ferrying crashed after takeoff in Pennsylvania, and is buried in Ord.
