History
Melia was a station on the Chicago, Burlington & Quincy's Omaha–Ashland cutoff of 1886 and is named for early settler John J. Melia. It appears on the 1912 county map. The Melia Hill rest area on westbound I-80, at milepost 431.6, has parking for trucks, cars and RVs, picnic shelters and summer tourist information.
