About Perry
Perry is an unincorporated place on the BNSF main line in the Republican valley in western Red Willow County, about 5 miles west of McCook and 6 miles east of Culbertson. It gives its name to Perry precinct.
History
The Burlington & Missouri River Railroad extended its line west from Indianola in 1880–81, and the last spike at this point was driven in July 1881. The station was first called Campbell and was renamed Perry for W. S. Perry, the railroad's superintendent of bridges. In 1890 it was a flag station six miles west of McCook, and later it had grain elevators. In the 1935 flood, seven people at the Miller dairy farm south of Perry were drowned. Perry was never incorporated and has no post office.
