Nickerson, Nebraska

Nickerson is a village in Dodge County established in 1871 when the Fremont, Elkhorn and Missouri Valley Railroad extended to the site. It was named for its founder, Reynolds K. Nickerson, and incorporated in 1910; the Chicago, Burlington and Quincy Railroad began serving the area in 1906.

The 2020 census recorded 312 residents, continuing a decline from 431 in 2000. A tourist-oriented line, the Fremont and Elkhorn Valley Railroad, operated through Nickerson from 1985 until it ceased running in 2012.
