Crawford City Park at the west end of Main Street is open from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m.

Danish Alps State Recreation Area opened in 2015 around the 219-acre Kramper Lake. The roughly 739-acre area is named for the area's early Danish settlers and offers camping, kayaking, fishing, horseback riding, and hiking and biking trails.

Kramper Reservoir was planned with shoreline and boat fishing in mind. The breakwater on the west shore includes a handicap-accessible fishing pier.

A wide spectrum of aquatic habitat features was incorporated to encourage fish to reproduce and grow rapidly. These include three water quality basins, a wetlands complex, a number of rock breakwaters, unwater shoals, tree and brush piles and diverse water depths. Game and Parks has stocked the lake with largemouth bass, bluegill, black crappie, channel catfish and walleye.

The campground in East City Park is run by the City of Ainsworth for tents and RVs from April to October, weather permitting.

Fred Penn Park at 311 W 2nd St sits beside the Elkhorn River and Fred Penn Lake, with primitive camping, fishing, sand volleyball and a rentable Scout Cabin.

Gilman Park at 507 E Main St is Pierce's 50-acre city park, with playgrounds, a ball field, picnic areas, the municipal pool and the 14-acre Gilman Park Arboretum around Bill Cox Memorial Lake, where a 1913 pony truss bridge is on the National Register.

Golden Prairie Bison at 39953 State Highway 12 near Valentine is a bison ranch run by Carl and Vicki Simmons, whose family homesteaded there in 1914 and brought bison back in the late 1990s.

Offers 2,008 acres of prime habitat for deer, turkey, pheasant and quail. The 50-acre lake offers some of the best fishing in the state.
