A neighborhood bar and grill at 70th and Q in south Omaha, and one of the longest-running rooms in the city — there has been a bar in this building since 1949, when meatpacker Steve Kawecki and his wife Gladys opened the Pappio Bar and made their name on dancing and barbecued ribs. It went through the Royal Robin, the Don Wan, the Lucky Seven and the Calico Cat before Joe Mislivec Jr. named it the Winchester in 1976, after his liking for lever-action guns. The Mislivec family retired in 2017. It is known for burgers and for sand volleyball, with live music, karaoke, pool and darts, and it has kept a small-town dive bar feel inside the city.
