Valentine City Hall is the municipal office for Valentine, Nebraska, at 323 North Main Street. Valentine is the county seat of Cherry County, population 2,633. Founded 1882; post office established December 4 1882. Operates under a council-manager form of government with a City Manager and a City Clerk/Treasurer. Nicknamed 'America's Heart City' and known nationally for re-mailing thousands of Valentine's Day cards each February with a special postmark. The city owns Miller Field, the municipal airport. Departments include Streets, Police, Parks and Recreation, Public Utilities and the Library. Landmarks: the 1932 Bryan Bridge, a steel cantilever truss on the National Register, and a large red neon heart on the Minnechaduza Creek canyon wall.
