Description

The Steele City Historic District, listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1972, covers the old business street of Steele City between Main and 2nd Streets and the railroad. Its buildings include a livery stable, a blacksmith shop of about 1900 now used as a museum, a bank and a restored stone church. Nearby, the 1913–14 District No. 1 School is listed separately. Visits are by appointment through the Jefferson County Historical Society, 402-729-5131.
