St. Patrick Catholic Church is the Catholic parish of O’Neill, Nebraska, the town that calls itself the Irish Capital of Nebraska. The parish was founded in 1874 to serve the Irish settlers who came west with General John O’Neill, and it belongs to the Archdiocese of Omaha.
One parish here serves more than one church: St. Patrick shares a parish office with St. Joseph Mission Amelia and St. Boniface Catholic Church Stuart.
The church interior was returned to its original 1909 design in a restoration completed in late 2025 by Conrad Schmitt Studios. The work brought back the high altar, the stencilled and gilded apse ceiling, the original pew ends and the faux-marble columns the Irish founders had wanted. O’Neill’s St. Patrick’s Day celebration each March is one of the largest in Nebraska.
