The Seward County Fair is held at 430 North 15th Street in Seward in late July, run by the Seward County Agricultural Society. Open class competition, a carnival, demolition and figure-eight racing, agriculture exhibits and children’s activities fill the week. The grounds have a real history: a two-story circular Round Barn stood here from 1914, used to display county school artwork during the fair and as a dormitory for the 4-H camp serving southeast Nebraska, until it burned in July 1960 days before the fair. A volunteer-built replica now stands inside the Ag Pavilion. K.C. Fouts, county agent here from 1926 to 1946, is credited with starting the first 4-H club in Nebraska. Phone 402-646-0816.
