Scotts Bluff National Monument preserves one of the great landmarks of westward migration. Rising 800 feet above the North Platte River valley, it was a key waypoint on the Oregon, California, and Mormon Pioneer trails. The monument has a visitor center, summit road, and 3.5 miles of hiking trails with panoramic views of the Nebraska panhandle.
