Plattsmouth City Hall is the municipal office for Plattsmouth, Nebraska, at 136 North 5th Street. Plattsmouth is the county seat of Cass County, population 6,544, about 20 miles south of Omaha on US 75. Incorporated March 15 1855, grown from an 1854 trading post at the confluence of the Platte and Missouri rivers. Departments include Police, Fire, EMS, Public Works, Water, Streets, Parks, Library, Cemetery, Animal Control, Building and Zoning and Finance. Recreation runs the Plattsmouth Community Center, Twin Rivers Water Park and a Senior Center. A Burlington railroad shop town from 1869 into the 1960s, employing about 800 railroad workers at its peak. The Plattsmouth Main Street Historic District, roughly 45 Italianate commercial buildings, is on the National Register. Office hours are Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 4:45 p.m.
