The Pavelka Farmstead, 2031 Road 1100 just south of NE 4 about 4 miles southeast of Bladen, was the home of John and Anna (Annie Sadilek) Pavelka and their ten children. Annie, who came from Bohemia with her family in 1880 and once worked for the Miners in Red Cloud, was the model for Ántonia; Cather visited here in the fall of 1916, and the fruit cave of the novel's last chapters is on the farm. It was listed on the National Register in 1979. The Willa Cather Foundation owns it and has restored it since 2020, with accessible walkways and signs; visits by appointment through the National Willa Cather Center or on its country tour.
