This free public landing is on the north bank, downstream side, of the highway bridge over the Niobrara north of Bassett, on the Niobrara National Scenic River. The National Park Service calls it the "Highway 7 Landing": in August 2026 Nebraska renumbered the road between Bassett and Springview from Highway 7 to U.S. 183, so the bridge is now signed U.S. 183.
It has a gravel ramp and parking and is open year-round, though it is not maintained often. It is the take-out for the 14.3-mile float from Meadville and the put-in for the last 15 miles to the Highway 137 bridge. Fred Thomas Wildlife Management Area, across the river, allows primitive camping but no fires.
