Nelson City Hall

Nelson City Hall is the municipal office for Nelson, Nebraska, at 580 South Main Street. Nelson is the county seat of Nuckolls County, population 456, designated county seat in 1873. Named from the middle name of Horatio Nelson Wheeler, the original owner of the townsite. Nelson successfully defended its county-seat status against a challenge from Superior in 1889. The town's peak population was about 1,000 in 1900.
