The Meridian Highway Bridge crosses the Missouri River from South Yankton to Yankton, South Dakota. The double-deck vertical-lift truss was dedicated on October 11, 1924, carried US 81 as a toll bridge until 1953, and was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1993.
Traffic moved to the Discovery Bridge in 2008, and the Meridian reopened to walkers and cyclists in November 2011. The trail across is about 0.7 mile; parking is on the South Dakota side.
