The Howard County Fair is held at the Howard County Fairgrounds north of St. Paul in mid-July, and 2026 was its 112th annual edition. It runs six days from Friday through to the following Wednesday, straddling a midweek finish rather than ending on a weekend, which is unusual. Livestock shows draw FFA members from five schools, and the week carries a carnival, grandstand entertainment, family activities and a demolition derby on the Tuesday night. The fair is unusual among small Nebraska fairs in having its own registered charitable foundation raising money for capital improvements to the grounds. Foundation phone 308-754-4251.
