Herren Brothers True Value Hardware at 402 2nd Street in Crawford is the nearest hardware store to Fort Robinson State Park and keeps country hours: weekdays 7:30 to 5:30, Saturday morning only, closed Sunday. It carries building materials, tools, lawn and garden, paint, electrical, plumbing, cleaning supplies and storage. The family runs a second store, Herren Brothers True Value Lumber at Harrison in Sioux County, and a local heritage account places an earlier Herren Brothers premises on the Harrison lots before fire destroyed the buildings there in 1974, so the business is older than the incorporation dates in the trade directories suggest.
