Ferncrest Elkhorn River is a dome and cabin glamping retreat on the south edge of Neligh, set along the Elkhorn River a quarter mile below the Neligh Mill. The temperature-controlled geodesic domes and cabins come with real beds and linens, private decks and wood-fired hot tubs; the grounds add a wood-fired sauna, a massage tent, ADA-compliant bathhouses and a camp store.
The location does most of the work. Riverside Park is within walking distance and Russell Park is just up the road. The Cowboy Trail runs through Neligh, so this is a place to stop rather than a place to drive to and back from - useful for anyone riding the trail across the north of the state. The Neligh Mill State Historic Site, the Pierson Wildlife Museum and downtown Neligh are all minutes away.
Developed as part of the Tallgrass Retreat project and operated under the Camp Ferncrest name, so it may be known locally by either. A Cowboy Trail Events Center and the Rivers Edge RV Park are planned for the same grounds but are not open yet.
