Falls City City Hall is the municipal office for Falls City, Nebraska, at 2307 Barada Street. Falls City is the county seat of Richardson County, population 4,133. Founded in the summer of 1857 by a party of abolitionists including James Lane and made the permanent county seat in 1860; the town was a station on the Underground Railroad along the Lane Trail. Growth followed the arrival of the Atchison and Nebraska Railroad in 1871 and the Missouri Pacific in 1882. The city runs its own municipal utilities, with a Utility Superintendent and utility billing handled at City Hall. City Hall houses the Administration department, including the City Administrator, Clerk and Treasurer, deputy treasurer, building inspector and utility account clerks, and the Public Works department. Office hours are Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. to 4 p.m.
