Dakota County Driver License Office

The Dakota County Driver License Office is run by the Nebraska Department of Motor Vehicles at Courthouse, 1601 Broadway, Dakota City. It is open every Tuesday, Wednesday,and Thursday for Express Service (Written Test Only), 8:00 - 12:30, 1:00 - 4:30. Drive tests are not given Every Monday and Friday for full service. No drive tests will be administered from 11:40 AM to 1:00 PM, or after 4:00 PM. CDL skills tests are given at this office by appointment; ring 402-471-7983 to arrange one. Business handled here includes new, renewal and replacement driver's licenses, state ID cards, learner's permits, school and farm permits, and written knowledge and drive tests. Vehicle titles and registration are a separate matter, handled by the Dakota County Treasurer at 1601 Broadway, PO Box 863, telephone 402-987-2131 - not at this office.
