Dakota City City Hall

Dakota City City Hall is the municipal office for Dakota City, Nebraska, at 1511 Broadway Street. Dakota City is the county seat of Dakota County, population 2,081. Platted 1856 and incorporated as a city in 1858; named for the Dakota people. City Hall staff handle office management, utility billing and accounts payable; the city also administers economic development and housing, planning and zoning, building permits and local sales tax. Departments include Cemetery, Fire and Rescue, Library, Maintenance, Parks, Stormwater Management, Street and Water and Wastewater. Tyson Foods' largest beef production plant is here and dominates area employment. Emmanuel Lutheran Church is on the National Register. Office hours are Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., closed noon to 1 p.m.
