The Custer County Fair is held at 44100 Memorial Drive in Broken Bow, at the junction of Highways 2 and 70, running about a week from late July into the start of August. Admission is free. Two things set it apart: it runs freestyle bullfighting as a grandstand act rather than a conventional rodeo, and the grounds carry a heavy equine emphasis, with more equine events added each year and past hosting of the Mid States Rodeo Finals and Nebraska Junior High Rodeo. The week also carries an evening parade, a free pit barbecue, grandstand entertainment, a teen dance, a firearms shooting match, a kidz zone and full 4-H and FFA livestock shows closing with the livestock sale.
