The Cherry County Fair and Rodeo is held at 120 South Green Street in Valentine in early August, and it is genuinely ranch-flavored: Ranch Bronc Riding and a Ranch Rodeo sit alongside the 4-H shows, with Nebraska, Mid-States and Open rodeo categories. The week also carries a Thursday evening parade on Main Street, a vendor trade show, a demolition derby, a horseshoe competition, a pancake breakfast, a Chamber watermelon feed and live music on Friday and Saturday. The fairgrounds were chosen to host the Nebraska High School Rodeo Finals in 2025 and 2026, an event drawing over a thousand people and last held in Valentine in the 1990s, and added thirty electrical hookups and a new restroom and shower building for it. The Cherry County Agricultural Society meets the second Monday of each month.
