Cedar-Knox Rural Water Project

Cedar-Knox Rural Water Project is a rural water district, run from Hartington in Cedar County. It supplies about 2,500 people through 898 service connections. Rural water districts do for water what the public power districts do for electricity: they pipe it to the farms, acreages and small settlements that sit outside any town’s own system. Nebraska has only about thirty of them, so in much of the state a rural household is still on a private well. Population and connection counts come from the federal drinking water system inventory. The town shown is the district office, not the limit of the area it serves.
