Aurora City Hall is the municipal office for Aurora, Nebraska, at 905 13th Street. Aurora is the county seat of Hamilton County, population 4,678. Laid out 1871 by David Stone, who named it after his former home of Aurora, Illinois. The city provides water, sewer, wastewater treatment and sanitation service. Other municipal functions include police, fire, public works and street maintenance, planning and zoning, parks and recreation, and the public library. The city is run day to day by a city administrator. The Hamilton County Courthouse is here. Local media include the Aurora News-Register and radio station KRGY 97.3 FM. Office hours are Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
