Ainsworth City Hall is the municipal office for Ainsworth, Nebraska, at 606 East 4th Street. Ainsworth is the county seat of Brown County, population 1,616. Platted 1883 when the railroad arrived, incorporated as a village in December 1883; named for James E. Ainsworth, the engineer who built the line through the county. The city runs its own utilities with online bill pay and published rates, plus solid waste. Municipal recreation includes a swimming pool, golf course, campground, parks, museum and youth basketball, flag football, soccer, tackle football and volleyball. City Hall issues building, demolition and handicap permits and ATV applications and administers LB840 economic development incentives and a Micro-TIF program. Ainsworth Regional Airport serves the area; the city hosted the World Horseshoe Pitching Championships in 1986.
