77 Longbranch Saloon

A saloon on Main Street in Chadron, in the ground floor of the Olde Main Street Inn — a building put up about 135 years ago by Jack O’Hanlon as the Hotel Chadron, later a YMCA for railroad workers and the first gymnasium of Chadron State College, and now on the National Register of Historic Places. General Nelson Miles used the hotel while investigating the Wounded Knee massacre in 1890, and the guest rooms are named for figures from that history. The saloon itself mixes cowboy, biker and outright comic decoration, with large game mounts on the walls. Jeanne Goetzinger has run it for thirty-five years; hours have narrowed to Wednesday, Friday and Saturday evenings, and the inn was listed for sale in 2025.
