About Horn
Horn is a former stop on the BNSF (old Burlington) line in western Dawes County, about 6 miles north-northwest of Crawford, between the town and the Oglala National Grassland.
History
Horn, earlier called Remington, was a stop on the Chicago, Burlington & Quincy line from Alliance to Edgemont, South Dakota, built through Crawford in 1888–89. It appears on the 1912 Rand McNally map. Horn School, District 28, also called Valley Star, stood about 10 miles northwest of Crawford. Nothing is known to remain at the site.
