Eli, Nebraska

Eli is a small community and former station on the Chicago and North Western Railroad in Cherry County, Nebraska, in the Cody Election Precinct between Merriman and Cody. It was named in honor of Eli Gamer, a pioneer settler in this stretch of the Nebraska Sandhills.

Eli's post office was established in 1909 and served the community independently for nearly a decade before being made a rural branch of Cody's post office in 1918.

History

Eli grew up as a station on the Chicago and North Western Railroad, named in honor of pioneer settler Eli Gamer.
