Description

History Nebraska marker No. 393, at the southwest corner of the courthouse grounds at O and N. 7th streets in Loup City, recalls June 14, 1934, when rumors that women workers at the Fairmont Creamery poultry plant might strike brought Ella Reeve “Mother” Bloor and other Communist organizers to a rally on the courthouse lawn. A march to the plant ended in a fight with local residents, and the jail terms and fines that followed ended the far left’s effort to organize Nebraska farmers and workers.
