Description

This Nebraska historical marker stands on US 75 at the former Omaha Public Power District plant north of Fort Calhoun. It tells the story of De Soto, platted in 1854, a boom town of several hundred by 1857 and county seat from 1858 to 1866, which faded after the railroad founded Blair in 1869.
