History
Chimney Rock appears on the 1912 Rand McNally map of Morrill County, and county records list a Chimney Rock Station in Court House precinct, a name also tied to a Pony Express station. The rock itself, rising about 300 feet above the North Platte valley, became a National Historic Site on August 9, 1956; History Nebraska runs the visitor center at 9822 County Road 75, Bayard.
